Our Co-Creation Challenge

We will connect with local schools and sustainability organisations to create sustainable fashion pieces and aim to showcase within Expo. We will bring schools to participate in workshops and celebrate what Gen Z can contribute to climate change and creating a circular economy. Students will source recycled materials and work in teams to show how all materials can have a second life. This activity directly contributes to SDG 4, Quality Education and SDG 13, Climate Action. Additionally we will delivery against SDGs 5 and 10 regarding Gender Equality and Reduced Inequality as all students can participate in the free programme with Diversity and inclusivity at the heart of what we do. We will encourage all young people to engage with this challenge and make a real impact and behavioral change. We will also connect with local businesses to engage with their sustainability initiatives and give discarded materials a second life through the Junk Kouture programme.

Development of initiatives

Methods and Areas for Future Development We would like to bring the Junk Kouture sustainable fashion competition to schools across Japan, giving young people the opportunity to deliver real impact on the climate, creating the circular engineers of tomorrow. Through collaborations with schools, educators, sustainability and commercial entities we can develop and deliver a nationwide schools programme to showcase the talent, innovation and creativity of Japan's young people including an educational content programme around the SDGs and create tools for educators and students to use in the classroom. This would launch in 2025 with schools participating from 2026, with winners competing for a place in the World Final, sharing a stage with teams from over 25 different nationalities. Junk Kouture is a free programme and open to all students between the ages of 13 and 19.
People who wish to work with Ministry of Education, Climate Change Ministry, Local and regional educational and sustainability organisations. Organisations looking to engage with Gen Z around sustainability and fashion.
We want to collaborate with partners who share similar goals of driving innovation and behavioural change in sustainability through working with young people and embracing their creativity.
